Liverpool Business News reports that Airbus plans to hire 6,000 new employees in the first half of 2022. In addition to finding new talent across the globe, the organisation will be looking for new skill sets to support decarbonization efforts, digital transformation and cyber technology. A lot of the positions are aimed at recent graduates.
As part of the FlyZero project, Airbus is working toward developing a commercial aircraft powered by hydrogen that could transport 279 passengers halfway around the world without refuelling.
“Airbus has demonstrated resilience throughout the Covid crisis and has laid the foundations for a bold future for sustainable aviation. This can only be achieved by acquiring the right talents in the various domains of expertise that will help us grow our activities as we come out of the crisis while preparing the long-term transformation of the company,” Thierry Baril, Airbus chief officer commented.
In terms of skills, Airbus said that about a quarter of the new hires will contribute to its efforts in decarbonization, cyber and digital technology. Young graduates will also be offered positions in the recruitment drive.
Among other developments, UK holiday park operator Parkdean Resorts relaunched recruitment for its Kickstart scheme following last year's success.
As of June 2018, there are 550 current vacancies and 375 trainees in the scheme, which was launched in 2021. With the government-funded initiative, more young people will have the opportunity to start a new career in hospitality.
Individuals will be able to pursue roles in accommodation, food and beverage, reception, sport and leisure, and entertainment as part of the new programme. To support training, trainees will also receive uniforms and Alcatel tablets as part of their package that offers them a minimum of 25 hours of work per week at £9 per hour.
Parkdean Resorts, one of the biggest Kickstart schemes in the UK, is offering a six-month work placement and an approved training programme to young people on universal credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.
