At 11:00 on Thursday 3 December 2026 this page becomes a written briefing for the owners and directors of UK recruitment agencies. It takes ten minutes to read and it is written to be kept for your January planning. There is nothing to attend and nobody to listen to. Register on the LinkedIn event to be told the moment it is published, or come back to this page on the day.
What the briefing covers
- What a client, a school, a council or a procurement team can check about your agency in 2027, and what they will find when they look.
- Certification by assessment. What it is, what the public verification page shows, and how a buyer reads it in a minute.
- The BIOR audit for Agency Members. Your policies and a sample of your own placement files read against UK recruitment law and the BIOR Code, online, the outcome in ten working days, a status that runs for two years and sits on your verification page.
- The Employment Rights Act timetable for agencies. Every date that bites in 2027, on one page.
- What to ask any professional body or trade association before you renew for 2027. The fee, what the membership includes, and what a client can verify for themselves.
Who it is for
The owner or a director of a UK recruitment agency, temporary or permanent, of any size.
Who writes it
The BIOR Membership Team, under Azmat Mohammed, Director-General of The British Institute of Recruiters. Questions posted on the LinkedIn event page are answered in writing on the day.
Until then
The agency page says what Agency Membership includes and what it costs, from £995 plus VAT a year by turnover band, at ior.org/agency-membership. The Employment Rights Hub carries the timetable as it stands at ior.org/employment-rights-hub. Any member business or certified recruiter can be checked in a minute at ior.org/verify.
The British Institute of Recruiters is a professional body for UK recruitment agencies and recruiters, founded in 2011 and based in Manchester, Companies House 07575583. An Education Supply Certification, for agencies that supply schools and colleges, is in preparation and opens to Agency Members in January 2027.
